A Soju Tattoo I Didn’t Plan, But Somehow Needed

It Started As a Joke

It was supposed to be funny. We were talking about how soju basically followed us through the entire trip.

Every late night, every tiny restaurant, every convenience store stop. At some point someone said, “You should just tattoo it.”

And for some reason, that didn’t feel ridiculous.

The First Design Felt Too Clean

The first sketch was minimal. Just a clean bottle outline. It looked nice, but it didn’t feel like us.

Our trip wasn’t polished. It was messy and loud and slightly chaotic.

Then We Made It Playful

Adding a tiny glass next to it changed everything. It suddenly felt alive.

Almost like a character instead of a product. That’s when I knew this was the version.

Placement Made It Personal

Lower back wasn’t random. It felt hidden but intentional.

Like something you don’t show everyone, only the people who were actually there with you.

Someone Chose the Stamp Version

The stamp frame was genius. It made the whole thing look like a memory sent from Korea.

Not just “soju” as a drink, but soju as a place, a night, a version of us.

Even the Tiny Frog Had Meaning

One of us picked a small frog instead. It was subtle, almost unrelated.

But it came from a random inside joke that only made sense at 2am.

That’s what made it perfect.

It Didn’t Feel Like a Tourist Tattoo

I was worried it would look cliche. Like something impulsive. But the way it was drawn made it feel thoughtful.

Small. Clean. Balanced. Like it belonged there.

I’ll Probably Smile Every Time I See It

It’s not deep. It’s not philosophical. It’s just a green bottle that reminds me of cheap dinners, loud laughter, and Seoul at night.

And honestly, that’s enough.

They didn’t overcomplicate it. They didn’t try to make it serious.

They just helped turn a memory into something we could carry.
